Videojet Introduces New Ink For 8510 and Wolke Thermal inkjet Printers

Non-Porous Black Ink Designed to Dry Quickly On A Variety of Substrates

WOOD DALE, Ill. — January 24, 2013 — Videojet Technologies Inc., a world-leading manufacturer of coding, printing and laser marking products, fluids and accessories for the product identification industry, announced the launch of a new ink for its 8510 and Wolke thermal inkjet (TIJ) printer lines. The Non-Porous Black ink (WLK660072) was designed for fast dry times on a wide range of non-porous materials.

“Our customers not only need high quality printers, but also high-performing inks that will fulfill their coding needs. Non-Porous Black ink for our thermal inkjet printers enables customers in a variety of industries to print codes with excellent quality,” said Casey Robertson, Videojet’s North American thermal inkjet product manager.

Non-porous Black is a specially-formulated, solvent-based ink designed to dry quickly on a range of surfaces, such as coated or lacquered cartons, blister package materials and some plastics. In addition, the ink maintains excellent light and water resistance, withstanding fading and smearing under routine conditions and/or after water contact.  Since HP technology is being utilized to print this ink, customers can expect no costly maintenance and very simple operation.

The Non-Porous Black ink dries quickly and adheres to a variety of substrates without the use of a dryer, or the need to modify the substrate.  It also extends the code assurance features of the Videojet 8510 and Wolke m600 touch printers to a wider range of applications. Customers packaging food, personal care items or consumer packaged goods that often use coated cartons or labels, will find the Videojet Non-Porous Black ink beneficial. Because the ink is solvent-based, delivering quick dry times for blister packaging becomes especially useful to companies in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.

New 1710 Pigmented inkjet Printer Announced

WOOD DALE, Ill. (USA) — July 29, 2011 — For applications that require easily readable variable data codes on dark or difficult to mark materials, Videojet Technologies Inc. has designed the new Videojet® 1710 small character continuous inkjet printer. The printer uses high-contrast, pigmented inks to create bright, clean codes on surfaces for which dye-based inks are not effective, such as colored glass, rubber tubing, plastic cabling and dark paperboard.

The Videojet 1710 printer can apply up to five lines of high-resolution print at speeds up to 888 feet per minute (271 m/min.). It is capable of printing a variety of fonts in multiple languages, as well as linear bar codes, 2D DataMatrix codes, custom logos and graphics.

“Videojet designed the 1710 printer to have the benefits of the best-selling Videojet 1000 Line of inkjet printers, but re-engineered the inside for the unique properties of pigmented inks,” says Scott Benigni, Videojet continuous inkjet product manager. “The heart of the new unit is the innovative “Core” which was designed specifically for pigmented inks. Patented technology ensures that pigments are continuously kept in suspension, preventing the clogging that is often associated with pigmented printers. The result is an industry-leading 4,000-hour core life, delivering the longest and most predictable time period before preventive maintenance for pigmented inkjet printers.”

Simple maintenance, reliable operation

The 1710 features Videojet’s Advanced Clean Flow printhead design that maximizes uptime by reducing the frequency of printhead cleanings, even with the toughest pigment inks. The Videojet 1710 uses the proven Smart Cartridge™ fluid system in use at tens of thousands of production lines across the world. By reading the embedded microchip, the printer confirms that compatible fluid has been installed to prevent errors in ink types or switching make-up and ink fluids. Saving time and money, the Smart Cartridge fluid system is designed to drain completely, wasting no residual fluids. The needle-and-septum design eliminates the need for operators to pour ink, preventing fluid spillage and waste.

Designed to deliver reliable operation in intermittent duty-cycle operations, the Videojet 1710 can be put into “standby” mode with power to the unit but not printing for up to two weeks, and then be put on line and ready to print in less than 6 minutes. This is made possible by the unit’s automatic flush at shut down, automated stirring of the ink, the aforementioned Core and software to manage ink and printer recirculation. Core change out is simple and mess-free, and can be done by the user. Pigmented filters and components with similar life spans are clustered for reliability and easy maintenance.

The Videojet 1710 is easy to integrate into existing systems with advanced connectivity technology, including its USB port, which allows for hot swapping print jobs and backing up messages. The convenience of off-site control and diagnostics via Ethernet capability through CLARiSOFT® and CLARiNET® software enables simple, seamless real-time message changes. Troubleshooting is a simple matter of pressing a button on the operator interface; a pop-up window assists the operator in assessing the issue and resolving it.

New Videojet 1610 Dual Head inkjet Printer Announced

WOOD DALE, Ill. (USA) — May, 2011 — The Videojet® 1610 Dual Head small character continuous inkjet printer from Videojet Technologies Inc. has two printheads that can run independently or in tandem to meet a wide range of applications. This can include applications that require printing on two locations on a single product, or on multiple lanes on a traversing unit.

The Videojet 1610 Dual Head printer can print up to five lines of high-resolution code per printhead at speeds up to 960 feet per minute for applications such as food and beverage, pharmaceutical, tobacco and building materials.

“Both printheads feature an advanced, Clean Flow printhead design that provides maximum uptime,” says Scott Benigni, Videojet continuous inkjet product manager. “By reducing ink buildup that can cause traditional inkjet printers to shut down, the Clean Flow printhead delivers less maintenance and longer runs without intervention.”

The printer includes IP65 washdown and dust protection that allows for superior environmental protection with no plant air required. Additionally, the vapor recovery system on the Videojet 1610 Dual Head printer reduces solvent consumption and provides longer runs before fluid change.

The Videojet 1610 Dual Head leverages the exclusive Smart Cartridge™ fluid system featured on all printers in the Videojet 1000 Line. By reading the embedded microchip, the printer identifies whether compatible fluid has been installed to prevent errors in ink types or switching make-up and ink fluids. Saving time and money, the Smart Cartridge fluid system is designed to drain completely, wasting no residual fluids. The needle-and-septum design eliminates the need for operators to pour ink, preventing fluid spillage and waste.

The integrated core consolidates the printer’s key ink system components into one part and requires preventive maintenance only every 12,000 hours for heavy-duty applications. Core changeout is simple and mess-free and is designed to be changed out quickly and easily. A countdown meter offers easy monitoring of time remaining before the core must be changed.
